1. Back Flashlight: Uses the super-bright camera light - easily light up a whole room

2. Front Flashlight: Uses the display and LED in brightest white - for more ambient, subdued light

What does the application do?

What Flashlight: 2 for 1 FREE does:

  • Uses the camera flash as a light

  • Launches the video camera on the phone in order to keep the light on for as long as you want

We have been asked a lot about why a simple flashlight app needs access to “personal information” to function properly. Here’s why: Flashlight: 2 for 1 FREE needs access to the video camera & light in order to turn the flash on and keep it on as long as you want. This requires access to the camera, and on BlackBerry these permissions are under the category of “personal information”. This is simply how RIM has categorized them. Here is a link where BlackBerry developers discuss this:

http://tinyurl.com/5v6huoo
scroll down to “Well .. It’s hard to believe that RIM set ApplicationPermissions.PERMISSION_RECORDING to be Personal permission … but looks like they did …”

Because it’s accessing the video camera to work, you will notice the video camera viewing screen pop up very quickly and then disappear when you start the app. The camera is NOT actually recording anything. We will NEVER access anything other than what’s needed to run the app. We do not access any contact or other information, and will never sell or offer any information to any 3rd parties. We do not obtain or keep your email address without your permission and you will never see spam from us (unlike the “other” flashlight guys). We are a BlackBerry Elite Alliance Member (the highest status level with RIM) and would not risk this by being dishonest with our valued supporters and customers.

We hope this anwers your questions. Thank you for your interest in Motek!
